# Apple Watch complications

A complication is the fastest possible glance: your step count on the watch face itself, no taps involved. Stepzy offers three, so you can pick between a progress ring and a plain number.

## The three complications

| Complication | Shows | Slots |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Steps | Your daily step count with progress | Circular, rectangular, inline and corner |
| Step Goal | Percentage of your goal with a progress gauge | Circular and corner |
| Steps (Count Only) | The step count coloured by progress, with no ring | Circular |

Steps (Count Only) is the one to pick on a busy face where a ring would compete with everything else.

## Adding one to your watch face

1. Press and hold your watch face, then tap Edit.
2. Swipe to the Complications screen.
3. Tap the slot you want to change.
4. Scroll to Stepzy and choose one of the three complications.
5. Press the Digital Crown to save, then tap the face to use it.

You can also set complications from the Watch app on your iPhone: open My Watch, choose a face under My Faces, and edit its complications there.

## Keeping them current

Complications refresh on watchOS's own schedule rather than second by second, so a small lag against the app is normal. Opening the Stepzy Watch app forces a refresh. If a complication is stuck for longer than that, see [Apple Watch out of sync](https://getstepzy.com/docs/apple-watch-sync).

### Which watch faces support complications?

Most modern faces do, and the available slots vary by face. Infograph, Modular and Meridian all offer several.

### Do complications follow my split goal?

Yes. They derive the right goal for the day from the schedule synced from your iPhone.

### Do complications cost battery?

Very little. They refresh on watchOS's budgeted schedule rather than continuously.
