The Apple Watch app
The Watch app is deliberately small. It shows your steps, your recent history and your workouts, and takes its settings from your iPhone so there is nothing to configure on your wrist.
Installing it
The Watch app installs with the iPhone app. If it has not appeared, open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps, and tap Install next to Stepzy.
The three screens
Swipe sideways to move between them.
| Screen | Shows |
|---|---|
| Steps | The date, your step count, a progress bar and your percentage of goal, plus your streak when one is running. Scroll for distance, calories and average heart rate |
| History | A Last 7 Days bar chart with goal days in green, then daily average, weekly total, best day, monthly total, monthly average and goal days out of seven |
| Workouts | Your recent workouts, with type and date |
Settings live on the iPhone
Your step goal, goal schedule and theme are all set in the iPhone app and pushed to the Watch. That includes split weekday and weekend goals - the Watch works out the right target for the day on its own, so it is correct at midnight without you opening anything.
Do Watch steps get double-counted?
No. Apple Health deduplicates across your iPhone and Apple Watch before Stepzy ever sees the number, so wearing both does not inflate your total. The upside is that steps taken while your phone is on a desk still count.
Stepzy offers three watch face complications so your step count is visible without opening anything. See Apple Watch complications.
Frequently asked questions
Can I start a workout from the Watch app?
No. Use Apple's Workout app - the session writes to Apple Health and appears in Stepzy automatically.
Why does my Watch show a different number from my iPhone?
Almost always a sync lag. See Apple Watch out of sync.
Does the Watch app need Stepzy Pro?
No. The Watch app and all three complications are free.
