Apple Watch out of sync
Your iPhone pushes steps, goal and streak to the Watch over Apple's own connection. When the two disagree it is nearly always a delivery delay rather than a counting error.
1. Open both apps
Open Stepzy on your iPhone, then open Stepzy on your Watch. That combination triggers a fresh push and settles most mismatches within a few seconds.
2. Check they are connected
Swipe up on your Watch face for Control Center. A green iPhone icon means connected; a red disconnected icon means the two have lost each other. Bring them close together, or toggle Bluetooth off and on on your iPhone.
3. Check Health permission on the Watch
The Watch app reads its own data from Health. On your iPhone open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps & Services, then Stepzy, and confirm access is granted. See Connecting Stepzy to Apple Health.
4. Force-quit the Watch app
- Open Stepzy on your Watch.
- Press and hold the side button until the power menu appears.
- Press and hold the Digital Crown until the app closes.
- Reopen Stepzy.
5. Complications lag by design
watchOS gives complications a limited refresh budget - they are not live. Opening the Stepzy Watch app forces an update. More on the three types in Apple Watch complications.
6. Restart, then reinstall
Restart both devices. If the mismatch persists, open the Watch app on your iPhone, select Stepzy, turn off Show App on Apple Watch, wait for it to disappear from the Watch, then turn it back on to reinstall cleanly.
Apple Health deduplicates iPhone and Apple Watch steps before Stepzy sees them, so wearing both never double-counts. A temporary difference is sync timing, not arithmetic.
Frequently asked questions
My Watch shows the wrong goal.
Open Stepzy on your iPhone once to push the current schedule. Split weekday and weekend goals are worked out on the Watch itself after that - see Weekday, weekend and custom goals.
The Watch app is missing entirely.
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps, and tap Install next to Stepzy.
Why did my Watch reset to zero at midnight?
It should not - the rollover is handled for you. If it does, open the Watch app once and it will correct itself.
Can I change settings on the Watch?
No. Goals, themes and everything else are set on the iPhone and synced across - see The Apple Watch app.
