Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets
The fastest way to check your steps is to not open the app at all. Stepzy's widgets put your count, goal progress and recent history on your Home Screen and Lock Screen.
Adding a widget to the Home Screen
- Press and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the icons wobble.
- Tap the + button in the top corner.
- Search for Stepzy.
- Swipe through the Daily Steps widgets - there is one per theme - and pick the size you want.
- Tap Add Widget, then Done.
Adding a widget to the Lock Screen
- Press and hold the Lock Screen, then tap Customize.
- Choose Lock Screen.
- Tap the widget area below the clock, or the space above it.
- Pick Stepzy and choose a circular, rectangular or inline widget.
- Tap Done.
Sizes and what each one shows
| Size | Shows |
|---|---|
| Small | Date, step count, progress bar, and your percentage of the goal |
| Medium | Everything in Small plus a seven-day bar chart, with today highlighted and goal days marked |
| Lock Screen circular | A capacity gauge with your step count inside |
| Lock Screen rectangular | Step count, progress bar and percentage of goal |
| Lock Screen inline | Your step count on a single line |
Themes
Widget themes are chosen in the widget gallery, not in Settings - there is one Daily Steps widget per theme, named in brackets:
- Daily Steps (Sunset)
- Daily Steps (Forest)
- Daily Steps (Peacock)
- Daily Steps (Berry)
- Daily Steps (Midnight)
Because the theme is baked into each widget, changing it means removing the widget and adding the one you want. This is a separate set from the 20 in-app themes, and your in-app theme does not change your widgets.
Keeping widgets current
Widgets read a shared cache that Stepzy updates whenever your steps, goal or streak change. iOS decides exactly when to redraw them, so a short delay is normal and expected. If a widget is stuck or blank, see Widget blank or stuck.
Widgets work out the right target for the day themselves, so a weekday or weekend goal flips at midnight without you opening the app. See Weekday, weekend and custom goals.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a monthly calendar widget?
Yes, as a separate widget. See The monthly steps calendar widget.
Do widgets need Stepzy Pro?
No. Every widget and every widget theme is free.
Can I tap a widget to open a specific screen?
Tapping opens Stepzy. The widgets do not deep-link to individual screens.
Do the widgets work in tinted Lock Screen and StandBy modes?
Yes. In tinted and StandBy rendering the colours degrade to a legible opacity ramp rather than dropping out.
