Languages
Since version 3.1, Stepzy speaks five languages: English, Spanish (Español), French (Français), German (Deutsch) and Simplified Chinese (简体中文). Out of the box it uses your iPhone's language, so there is nothing to set up.
What is translated
- The whole app: Today, Insights, Workouts, Awards, Settings and onboarding.
- Notifications and smart reminders.
- Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, the Live Activity, the Apple Watch app and its complications.
- Siri phrases, such as "Show my steps in Stepzy" in your language.
- The Apple Health permission prompts.
- AI Coach replies, which come back in the language Stepzy is using.
Choosing a language
- Open Settings from the gear icon on any tab.
- Under Appearance, tap Language.
- Pick Automatic, English, Español, Français, Deutsch or 简体中文. Each language is listed in its own words, so you can always find your way back.
- Close Stepzy from the app switcher and open it again. The new language is used from the next launch.
Automatic follows your iPhone's language (Settings, General, Language & Region). If your iPhone uses a language Stepzy does not have yet, Stepzy shows English. The choice in Stepzy is the same setting as Settings, Apps, Stepzy, Language in iOS, so the two always agree.
Widgets, Apple Watch and Siri
Widgets, the Apple Watch app and Siri always use your iPhone's language, even if you pick a different one inside Stepzy. iOS decides their language, not the app.
Dates, numbers and units
Dates, weekday names and number formats follow your iPhone's region, so a German region shows 10.000 Schritte and a French one 10 000 pas. Distances follow your units setting. When you enter your weight or height you can type either a comma or a point as the decimal separator.
Frequently asked questions
Why is some text still in English?
The monthly challenge card and the What's New notes come from getstepzy.com rather than from the app, and they are in English for now.
Can I suggest a new language?
Yes. Tell us through the contact page which language you would like next.
