Setting up Stepzy

Stepzy takes about a minute to set up. The first launch runs a four-step onboarding flow that connects Apple Health, analyses your recent walking, and suggests a daily step goal based on what you actually do.

Step 1: Welcome

The first screen introduces what Stepzy tracks - daily steps, streaks, workouts with routes and heart rate, insights, and awards. Tap Get Started to continue.

Step 2: Notifications

Stepzy offers to send daily reminders, plus alerts when you hit your goal or finish a workout. Tap Turn on Notifications to allow them, or Maybe Later to skip. Skipping does not block anything else - you can turn notifications on afterwards from Settings. See Notifications and reminders for what actually gets sent.

Step 3: Connect Apple Health

Tap Allow Access & Analyze. iOS shows its own Health permission sheet, listing every data type Stepzy wants to read. Turn all of them on and tap Allow. Stepzy cannot count a single step until this is granted - the full list of what is requested is in Connecting Stepzy to Apple Health.

Once permission is granted, Stepzy reads your recent step history and shows a short analysis screen while it works out a sensible starting goal.

Step 4: Set your goal

Stepzy pre-fills a suggested goal from your last seven days with recorded steps, nudged slightly upward and rounded to the nearest 500. Adjust the slider to anything between 2,000 and 30,000 steps.

You can also switch from Daily to Split here, which gives weekdays and weekends separate targets. Tap Set Goal & Start to finish. Goals are never locked in - change them any time from Settings or by tapping the goal badge on the Today screen.

Finding your way around

Stepzy has four tabs along the bottom:

TabWhat it shows
TodayYour live step count, progress toward today's goal, the date strip, hourly activity and this week's totals. See The Today screen.
InsightsYearly and long-range analysis: your Boarding Pass, activity patterns, goal calendar and trend charts. See The Insights tab.
WorkoutsEvery workout Apple Health has recorded, with full detail views. See Workout history.
Awards42 achievement badges across daily, streak, weekly and monthly categories. See Awards and achievements.

The flame icon in the top left of every tab opens your streak. The gear icon in the top right opens Settings.

Rerunning onboarding

Settings has a Restart Onboarding row at the very bottom. It takes you back through all four steps without deleting anything - your Health data and goal history are untouched.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use Stepzy?

No. Stepzy has no sign-up, no login and no password. It reads from Apple Health on your device, so there is nothing to create an account for.

Can I enter steps manually?

Not in Stepzy. Steps are read from Apple Health, which is the source of truth. Anything written into Health by another app or device will show up in Stepzy automatically.

Does Stepzy work without an Apple Watch?

Yes. Your iPhone's built-in motion coprocessor counts steps on its own. An Apple Watch adds steps taken while your phone is elsewhere, plus the Watch app and complications.

Stepzy is free on the App Store, for iPhone and Apple Watch.
