Streak Skips
Illness, travel, a genuinely awful day - all-or-nothing streaks punish all three equally, and that is usually the moment people quit. A Streak Skip marks a missed day as neutral so the days either side stay joined.
Using a skip from the date strip
- Open the Today screen.
- Find the day in the 28-day date strip.
- Press and hold it until the menu appears.
- Tap Use Streak Skip.
The menu footer tells you how many skips you have left this month.
Using a skip from the banner
Tap a past day that missed its goal and Stepzy shows a card reading Goal missed this day, with your remaining allowance and a Skip Day button. Tap it and the day becomes neutral immediately.
Undoing a skip
Long-press a skipped day and choose Remove Streak Skip, or select the day and tap Undo on its card. The day reverts to whatever it actually was, and your streak recalculates accordingly.
How many you get
| Plan | Streak Skips |
|---|---|
| Free | 4 per calendar month |
| Stepzy Pro | Unlimited |
The free allowance resets at the start of each calendar month. Once it is used up, the long-press menu shows Streak Skip with a lock icon, and tapping it opens the Pro screen.
Where skipped days show up
- In the date strip, with a skip glyph instead of a red ring.
- In the Goal Calendar heatmap, in indigo, alongside a Skipped legend entry.
- In the Monthly Steps Calendar widget, in the same indigo.
A skipped day does not count as a goal day. It does not add to your streak or your goal-days total - it simply stops the run from breaking.
Frequently asked questions
Can I skip today?
Skips are designed for days that have already missed their goal. Today is still in progress, so there is nothing to protect yet.
Can I skip several days in a row?
Yes, up to your remaining allowance for the month. Each day is skipped individually.
Do unused skips roll over?
No. The free allowance is four per calendar month and resets on the first.
Can I recover a streak I already lost?
Sometimes. If the day that broke it is still in the 28-day date strip, skipping it now will rejoin the run.
Why does a streak with skips work better?
Because all-or-nothing tracking makes one bad day feel like total failure. The psychology is covered in Why a streak with skips beats a perfect streak.
