Units and body measurements

Two small settings make a surprising number of other screens correct: your unit preference, and the height, weight and date of birth Stepzy reads from Apple Health.

Metric or imperial

  1. Open Settings and find UNITS.
  2. Tap the Units menu and choose Automatic, Imperial or Metric.

Automatic follows your device region. A sample conversion sits directly below the menu so you can confirm the choice took effect. The setting applies to distance, height and weight everywhere in the app.

Body measurements

In Settings, under HEALTH, tap Body Measurements. The sheet lets you:

  • Enter your Height and Weight, in your chosen units, and see a live BMI preview.
  • Set your Date of Birth.
  • Tap Fetch from Apple Health to import values already stored there.
  • Tap Save to write height and weight back into Apple Health.

Why these matter

ValueUsed for
Height and weightYour BMI card and BMI trend - see Distance, calories, heart rate and BMI
Date of birthYour estimated maximum heart rate, which sets the thresholds for heart rate zones
Date of birth comes from Health

Stepzy reads your date of birth from Apple Health and does not write it back. If it is wrong, edit it in the Health app under your profile and Stepzy will pick up the change.

Logging weight over time

The BMI card on the Today screen has its own Log Weight sheet with a recent history list, which is the quicker route for a regular weigh-in. Everything logged goes into Apple Health, so it is available to every other app you use.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my BMI card empty?

Apple Health has no height or weight. Add both via Body Measurements, or tap the BMI card and use Log Weight.

Does changing units convert my stored data?

Nothing is converted or lost. Health stores canonical values and Stepzy displays them in whichever units you choose.

Does Stepzy write my weight to Apple Health?

Yes - body mass and height are the only two things Stepzy writes. See Connecting Stepzy to Apple Health.

Stepzy is free on the App Store, for iPhone and Apple Watch.
